Saturday Morning
I wanna learn how to be better at wearing makeup. I wear makeup approximately 5-10 times a year. Which is like barely once a month. And I dont even make it that noticeable. Teach me how you biddies keep the lipstick off you teeth. How do you keep your t-zone from getting shiny? How do I master a smokey eye?? HELP I’M LOST.
And don’t give me that “You don’t have to force yourself to be a stereotype blah blah bullshit.” I WANT to wear makeup sometimes, but I’m just too scared to mess it up. No one is forcing me or influencing me to wear it. So yeah. Help!
I just saw this episode and realized how mean it is!
She exploded at the end of the episodeā¦
Was there no controversy surrounding this? None?
Nothing is better than lying in bed naked. Not even to have sex. Just being naked by yourself, enjoying the silence. Everybody should do it. Get a warm cup of coffee or tea, light a candle, turn off the light, get under your covers and watch a good movie. It’s the most amazing feeling in the world.
Every day there’s this lady at my train stop wearing a different ankle length dress with floral print. She wears no makeup, has her hair in the same side part with curly bangs and straight hair, and wears the same white sneaker flats every day. She’s relatively young, probably in her late 30’s, and wears a pair of 1980’s looking glasses.
I’m very curious about her. I’m trying to figure out if she’s Mormon, or maybe another conservative religion or culture. She doesn’t look Hasidic, because she would probably have her hair covered and be wearing all black. She takes an early train in the morning and a peak train home, so she must work or have some obligation that requires 9-5pm attendance.
I’ve always been interested in women that choose to dress very modestly or conservatively. Not because I think they look silly, but because I find it more brave to reject today’s fashions than to succumb to them despite discomfort or a mere lack of desire to show too much skin. Think about how people wear stilettos every day regardless of having flat feet, bunions, back problems or even worse, balance issues.
I use too many run on sentences. I always have.
Anyway, I wish I could talk to her and see what drives her to cover up so much even though the weather is hot. Is she scared to show too much skin? Does she follow the doctrine that pants are for men and dresses are for women exclusively? Does she belong to a religion or practice that forbids women from wearing tank tops or short skirts? Does she just have an old wardrobe and is too lazy to update it? Is this just her style and it always has been? Because I try to people watch from an relatively objective point of view, I don’t see these as terrible questions. I won’t ever ask her these questions, because it honestly is none of my business. But I am curious how a working class woman finds it comfortable to run errands in long skirts. I personally like them, but sometimes find them obstructive and very easy to get caught on things. Thoughts?
